Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Stephen Stone is Professor of Clinical Medicine, at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, in Springfield, Illinois. He also serves on the Scientific Advisory Panel of Acuderm Inc. Formerly, he was in private practice at the Dermatology Center, Ltd., also in Springfield.

Dr. Stone is a graduate of Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, where he received his B.A. cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his M.D. degree from New York University. He served an internship and a year of residency in internal medicine at Lincoln Hospital, then a division of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. After more than two years on active duty with the United States Navy, Dr. Stone completed a three-year residency in dermatology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology,
the American College of Physicians, theAmerican Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery


Among the honors he has received are membership in the American Dermatologic Association, inclusion in the Best Doctors in America, 1998-99, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, "Class of 96" honoree, in 1996, the Boneh B'rith Sholom Award, for sustained volunteer effort (with Lisa Stone)in May 1995 and the Springfield Jewish Federation Community Service Award (with Lisa Stone)in 1991.
