VI. CAREER GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

My life experiences, in the profession of pharmacy, have led me in a myriad of directions, encompassing all facets of the practice of my profession. Through my initial training in the fundamentals of pharmacy (chemistry, design, formulation, compounding, distribution, management, etc.), I learned the essentials of efficient and progressive pharmacy practice. With my advanced training in clinical pharmacy, my horizons have broadened to the therapeutics aspect, to personally assure that optimum therapy is achieved. Prevention of potential harm to the patient, from medicinals, through utilization review, patient education, staff education, and other endeavors, is of primary importance, and is achievable through the proper training and management of a given hospital pharmacy staff. No health professional can be satisfied if iatrogenic mishaps occur. It is the responsibility of all health care providers to assure the community of patients that these potential mishaps are kept to a minimum. My personal areas of interests lie in the conception, development, implementation, and management of innovative, progressive, and pan-professional programs, to provide unparalleled excellence in health care. In professional interest, I am well versed, and highly enjoy, working in the areas of continuous quality improvement, total quality management, outcomes management, quality assurance, drug usage evaluation/drug utilization review, drug information, pharmacokinetics, pharmacy computer applications, research activities, administration, educational endeavors, internal medicine, geriatrics, psychiatry, and generally, to advance the practice of pharmacy in a highly professional manner. Over the past five years, my full attention has been in the management and and performance of my Anticoagulation, Hypertension, Lipid Clinics, with a goal to move into Diabetes care, assuring all these patients achieve the best care possible to prevent long range problems from occurring.
